We are seeking a highly skilled Professional Coder with specialized experience in Gastrointestinal (GI) Orthopedics and Cardiology to join our dynamic medical billing team. Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records, physician notes, and documentation related to GI Orthopedics and Cardiology cases.
• Assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to identify diagnoses accurately, supporting proper billing processes.
• Apply DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications where applicable to facilitate hospital reimbursement procedures.
• Ensure all coding aligns with current medical billing standards, ICD coding guidelines, and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve record accuracy.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, EHR (Electronic Health Records), and evolving coding regulations.
• Support medical collections efforts by ensuring correct coding that maximizes reimbursement while adhering to legal standards.
• Prepare detailed reports on coding activities, audit findings, and compliance issues for management review.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Medical Coder specializing in GI Orthopedics and Cardiology is required.
• Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding practices specific to these specialties.
• Demonstrated familiarity with DRG classification systems used in hospital billing environments.
• Prior experience with medical billing, collections, and insurance claim submissions is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and coding purposes.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
