Job Overview
Mr. Mahjong’s is seeking a dedicated, career-minded professional bartender to join our elite service team. We operate a dynamic, fast-paced environment that demands a unique blend of sophisticated hospitality and technical efficiency.
Our service model begins with a focused, professional atmosphere at 4:30 PM and scales into a high-intensity, high-volume operation as the evening progresses on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Events are constantly being held Sunday- Wednesday and are a more tailored environment.
The Profile
The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional who prides themselves on technical precision and operational discipline. Because we maintain a strictly dry environment for all staff, we are looking for individuals who value clarity, reliability, and a high standard of personal conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Dynamic Service: Transition seamlessly from personalized, attentive service during early hours to rapid-fire execution during peak high-volume shifts.
- Operational Autonomy: Maintain a "clean as you go" philosophy. While we have a barback, they may be busy tending to other demands the bar may have. You will be expected to manage your own station, including restocking and prepping (acting as your own barback) to ensure continuous flow.
- Team Integration: Work cohesively within a high-performance team where communication and mutual support are the foundations of our success.
- Craft Spirits Knowledge and Passion: Guide guests through our extensive catalogue of spirits, beers, and original craft cocktails.
- Financial Integrity: Execute high-volume transactions with speed and 100% accuracy.
- SmartTab Proficiency: Ability to split checks, open/close tabs, and managing floor maps with accuracy is preferred but not required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in high-volume, craft-centric, or fast-paced urban environments.
- Professionalism: A commitment to our "dry bar" policy. We require staff to remain sober and focused throughout the duration of their shift.
- Efficiency: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to maintain a pristine workstation under pressure.
- Composure: A refined floor presence and the ability to handle a "three-deep" bar with poise and a positive attitude.
- Compliance: Current California RBS Certification and Food Handler’s Card required.
