Planet Paws Pet Care is a Fear Free, enrichment-focused pet care company serving Macomb County. We are looking for dependable, detail-oriented animal lovers to join our growing team as part-time professional pet sitters and dog walkers.

This is not a gig app position. We are looking for team members who take pride in their work, communicate well, follow procedures, and genuinely care about the emotional and physical wellbeing of pets.

Our goal is simple:
Treat every pet like family while creating safe, low-stress experiences built on trust, consistency, and enrichment.

What You’ll Do

• Walk dogs safely in neighborhoods throughout Macomb County
• Provide in-home vacation care visits for dogs and cats
• Administer medications, including injections if needed (training provided)
• Follow detailed client care instructions and Planet Paws SOPs
• Monitor pet behavior, body language, and wellbeing
• Provide updates, photos, and visit notes through our pet care app
• Use Fear Free handling techniques to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress
• Maintain professionalism while working independently in clients’ homes

We use calm, patient, enrichment-focused handling techniques while respecting each pet’s emotional comfort level and body language. We are looking for sitters who prioritize safety, trust-building, and positive experiences — not force or intimidation.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Reliable vehicle
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid auto insurance
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
• Reliable smartphone and comfortable using apps
• Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes (pets are screened for safety)
• Able to walk in all types of Michigan weather
• Able to bend, lift, walk multiple dogs, and remain physically active throughout shifts
• Midday weekday availability (11 AM – 4 PM) is required
• Willingness to participate in weekend and holiday rotation coverage

Experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person with the right mindset and work ethic.

Schedule Expectations

This is a part-time position with a flexible but consistent schedule.

Our busiest hours are:

• Weekday midday walks (11 AM – 4 PM)
• Morning vacation care visits
• Evening vacation care visits
• Weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis

No employee is expected to work every weekend or every holiday. We believe in fair team scheduling, and leadership participates in rotation coverage as well.
