POSITION: Professor, Dental Hygiene
Description Of Duties
Responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabi and the schedule of the Allied Dental Program. Report directly to the Program Director and the Dean, Health Sciences Division. Teach fifteen (15) credit hours per semester and maintain a minimum of fifteen (15) office hours per week. Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials. Teach collaboratively within the Allied Dental Program to include: didactic, laboratory, pre-clinical and clinical instruction. Assist with student advisement, committee work for the Program and the College. Teaching responsibilities include instruction, supervision and advisement in the Dental Assisting Program and Dental Hygiene Program. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or the Dean, Health Sciences Division.
Minimum Qualifications
Baccalaureate Degree. Graduate of an American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation accredited dental hygiene/dental assisting program. Three (3) years of clinical dental hygiene or dental assisting experience. Current Oklahoma Dental Hygiene license or eligible for licensure or current Certified Dental Assistant certification with expanded functions: Radiation Protection and Safety; Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride; Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants; Assisting in the Administration of Nitrous Oxide. Oklahoma Dental Hygiene Certification in local anesthesia administration and nitrous oxide administration. Experience working in an institution of higher education. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-campus and to visit off-campus sites/facilities.
Desired Qualifications
Master's Degree or working toward a Master's Degree. Teaching experience in a Dental Assisting and/or Dental Hygiene Associate Degree program.
