Position Overview
The Professor of Legal Studies is a senior academic responsible for teaching, research, curriculum development, doctoral supervision, and academic leadership in the Faculty of Law/Legal Studies. The Professor plays a key role in advancing legal education, research excellence, and institutional governance in accordance with UGC and Bar Council of India (BCI) norms.
Qualifications (As per UGC Regulations)
- Ph.D. in Law from a recognized university
- Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.) with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade)
- Must satisfy UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Academic Administrators
- Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience in a recognized university or institution
- Minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC CARE-listed journals
- Evidence of research guidance, academic leadership, or funded projects (desirable)
- Roles and ResponsibilitiesA. Teaching & Learning
- Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in Law
B. Research & Publications
- Conduct independent and collaborative legal research
- Publish research papers in UGC CARE-listed journals, books, and edited volumes
- Apply for and manage research projects and consultancy assignments
- Guide Ph.D. and LL.M. dissertations as per UGC norms
C. Curriculum Development
- Design, review, and update syllabi and course content
- Introduce innovative teaching methods, case-based learning, and clinical legal education
- Integrate emerging areas of law and interdisciplinary perspectives
D. Academic Leadership & Administration
- Participate in Boards of Studies, Faculty Councils, and Academic Committees
- Assist Dean and HoD in academic planning and policy implementation
- Act as Course Coordinator / Program Coordinator when assigned
E. Examination & Evaluation
- Set question papers and evaluate answer scripts
- Conduct internal assessments and viva-voce examinations
- Ensure fairness, confidentiality, and transparency in examinations
F. Student Development & Extension Activities
- Guide students in:
- Moot courts
- Legal aid clinics
- Internships and advocacy training
- Promote community outreach and legal literacy programs
G. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to:
- UGC Regulations
- Bar Council of India (BCI) norms
- University statutes and ordinances
- Contribute to NAAC, NIRF, and IQAC processes and documentation
5. General Duties
- Maintain academic discipline and professional ethics
- Participate in faculty development programs (FDPs)
- Perform any other academic duties assigned by the University authorities

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹74,187.68 per month
