Summary:

Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center plays a critical, front-line role in responding to child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse by providing a coordinated and collaborative approach to the investigation of such cases while ensuring that victims receive immediate, effective support.

The Program Assistant is the first point of contact for all children and families entering the BRCAC. The Program Assistant will welcome and orient every child and non-offending family member to the BRCAC and immediately link the family to the appropriate BRCAC service providers. The Program Assistant plays a critical role in creating a safe environment, that is welcoming, and upholds the core values and mission of the BRCAC.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, into your work with clients, staff, and members of the BRCAC multidisciplinary team.
  • Welcome all visitors and orient them to the waiting area/observation room.
  • Actively manage the experience of clients, visitors, partners, and staff.
  • Answers and directs telephone calls to the appropriate staff member.
  • Enters data into the BRCAC’s case tracking database.
  • Performs administrative and clerical office duties including report preparation; daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly office and safety checks, board meeting preparation.
  • Assists the Executive Director as necessary.
  • Assists the Director of Forensic Interviewing and Advocacy in supervising volunteers.
  • Maintains the waiting area, interview rooms, observation room throughout and at the end of the day.
  • Other duties as assigned

Interacts with: BRCAC visitors, clients, Multidisciplinary team consisting of child protection specialists, police detectives, prosecutors, and BRCAC staff.

Works with: Executive Director, Finance Director, Director of Forensic Interviewing and Advocacy, Clinical Director, Therapists, Forensic Interviewers, Regional Care Coordinators, and Education/Prevention Specialist.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Foundation computer skills (e.g. data entry, internet use, email communications)
  • Interpersonal work experience in a fast-paced environment such as human service, customer service, or related field a plus
  • Desire to engage with children and families impacted by violence and trauma
  • Criminal background check is required

Other:

Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.86 - $16.82 per hour
