Program Manager - Secure Juvenile Detention

Position Overview

Coosa Valley Youth Services is seeking a Program Manager – Detention to oversee the daily operations of a secure juvenile detention facility. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and effective management of detained youth while supervising staff and maintaining compliance with all applicable standards, including Alabama Department of Youth Services (DYS) requirements and PREA.

The Program Manager plays a critical leadership role in maintaining operational integrity, staff accountability, and program effectiveness in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Corrections, or a related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a residential or secure youth setting
• Supervisory and leadership experience required
• Knowledge of juvenile justice systems, DYS standards, and PREA preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work in a high-demand, safety-sensitive environment

Compensation

Starting salary is commensurate with experience within the established starting range for this position:

$51,417 – $65,818 annually (starting range)

Starting salary is based on experience and qualifications. CVYS utilizes a structured pay scale that provides clear opportunities for continued salary advancement beyond the initial hiring range.

Pay: $51,417.00 - $65,818.00 per year
