Project Assistant (Construction)

About the Role

SJ Hauck Construction is seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Project Assistant to support our Project Managers and Director of Operations. This is a key role responsible for keeping projects running smoothly through strong administrative control and coordination.

This is not an entry-level clerical position — we are looking for someone who can take ownership, stay ahead of tasks, and operate in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase orders, change orders, and work orders
  • Schedule and call in inspections with municipalities and agencies
  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day project administration
  • Maintain accurate and organized job files and documentation
  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Track project progress and help ensure timelines and paperwork stay on schedule

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once without dropping details
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment

Preferred Experience (Not Required, but a Big Plus)

  • Experience in construction, project coordination, or permitting
  • Familiarity with purchase orders, change orders, or job costing
  • Experience working with municipalities or inspection scheduling

Pay: $50,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
