Project-Based Lead Interior Designer (Independent Contractor)
Hourly Rate: $55–$65/hr | Remote & In-Person | Arizona-Based Preferred

We’re looking for a talented Lead Interior Designer to join our creative team on a project-by-project basis. This role is ideal for someone who has already gained hands-on experience with another design studio and is confident stepping into a fast-moving, detail-oriented workflow.

As an independent contractor, you’ll be brought in to lead new projects—ranging from site measures and drawing support to flat lay prep and mood board development. We’re looking for someone who can jump in quickly, contribute to the vision, and execute with precision.

What You’ll Do:

• Support design projects from concept to completion
• Interpret and translate customer needs into rough plans and concept boards
• Research and recommend materials and product sourcing
• Produce floor plan layouts in AutoCad and/or SketchUp
• Create Design Boards, tear sheets and purchase sheets
• Supervise work progress
• Work closely with designers, architects, builders, and contractors
• Research and follow industry changes, evolution and best practices
• After six months of proven abilities, Senior Designer would manage associate designers under their direction

What We’re Looking For:

• 4+ years of job site experience with a professional residential design studio
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp
• Strong eye for layout and branding with working knowledge of Canva
• Solid understanding of interior design principles, materials, and finishes
• Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through
• Comfortable working independently and receiving direction remotely
• Arizona-based or willing to travel for occasional site work (preferred)
• Project management skills
• BS degree in Interior Design is a plus
• Experience in Houzz Pro or similar procurement software is a plus
