MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The Project Commercial Senior Engineer is in charge of all commercial, claims, and contractual management between the company and the Client. Generally, he manages in close collaboration with the contracts manager, the commercial negotiations, advising on and drafting the contract variations and amendments, as well as taking into account the deal’s risks, opportunities, and change management processes. She/he is also heavily involved in the relationship management with the Client alongside the Project Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that all the Project team, including (Procurement, Finance, Cost Control, Planning, Engineering), fully understand and integrate the contractual obligations

Advise, support, and control of claims management jointly with the Project Director (dependent on the assignment of the claim manager role)

Alongside the Project Director, develop the risk avoidance strategy and manage all risks related to the actual progress of the execution and the delay of the Employer’s obligations

Coordinate with the subcontractors to define the project Risk Management / Claim Management plan in full Coordination with the Contracts Department (as the main task Owner), considering all inputs from Cost, Planning, and Finance Departments for the overall project Commercial and Risk Strategy

Engage the Legal & Contracts department for contract conclusions and Contract modifications

Adapt the Commercial and Legal terms of the the ,EPC Contract with the customer, regional companies, subcontractors in full coordination with Finance Department to define the project finance execution strategy considering the Project VAT Exemption in line with the Contract’s structure

Maintain sustainable and productive relationships with the Client and relevant Authorities

Provide commercial support/advice to the Contracts Manager

Attend contract review meetings (both commercial and operational) and provide concise summaries, recommendations and progress reports to stakeholders

Resolve contractual and commercial issues

Can be responsible for a team of Quantity Surveyors
Basic Requirements

Related Degree in Engineering
-
Must have +8 years of experience in business development, quantity surveying or contracts in the field of construction
Qualification:

Construction background,
-
Contract administration, valuation, variations, disputes, claims and negotiation,

Knowledge of FIDIC and EPC contract types
-
Risk management and value management.

Assessment of financial viability

Budget planning, monitoring, and forecasting.

Estimating, tendering and procurement.

Supply chain.
