Project Communications Manager

Position Summary: Visión y Compromiso is seeking a dynamic professional to manage communication strategies across a diverse portfolio of various projects. This critical role requires exceptional organizational skills, bilingual communication expertise, and the ability to craft compelling narratives across multiple platforms.

Communications Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Status: Regular, Full Time, Salary

Starting Wage Range: $76,149.22 - $95,186.52 per year. The selected applicant’s starting wage will be determined based on the applicant’s educational background, relevant experience, and tenure within the organization, in alignment with internal equity considerations.

Effective Date: October 8, 2025

Primary Location: Hybrid; 75% from a home office, and 25% “in the field” traveling to different worksites to visit teams.

Required Travel: Up to 50% of the time within Los Angeles County, with the ability to travel to multiple locations in a single day.

Schedule: Typically Monday-Friday with some evening and weekend work as required to meet program

objectives.


Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans for various concurrent projects.
  • Create tailored communication strategies that align with unique project objectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication efforts with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and media contacts.

Content Management

  • Produce high-quality, bilingual content across multiple channels such as:
    • Social media platforms
    • Email campaigns
    • Websites
    • Reports
    • Press releases
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand voice in both English and Spanish.
  • Translate and localize content with cultural humility.
  • Manage graphic design and multimedia content requests from inception to completion.

Engagement and Reporting

  • Track and analyze communication outcomes and engagement metrics.
  • Prepare detailed reports on impact and project visibility.
  • Develop innovative outreach strategies to maximize project communication effectiveness.

Required Competencies

Education

  • There is no minimum education requirement

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project-based communications

Skills

  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced communication portfolios
  • Advanced project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple tasks, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Budget management skills to plan, monitor, and report on program expenditures.
  • Data oversight skills, including collection, management, analysis, and reporting for funders and stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate closely and across all VyC departments with a wide range of staff, community members, partner agencies, and funders.
  • Strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, organizational abilities, and effective establishment of priorities.
  • Demonstrated cultural humility
  • Strong ability to be adaptable and to learn quickly

Language Skills

  • Ability to effectively manage conflict; strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex reports, procedures, or regulations.
  • Ability to complete reports and write business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, and the general public.
  • Because of the population served, the ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish is required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Exceptional written communication skills in both languages:
      • Ability to craft clear, compelling, and concise content across various formats, including but not limited to:
        • Narrative reports
        • Executive summaries
        • Grant proposals
        • Press releases
        • Social media content
        • Email communications
        • Website copy
        • Promotional materials
      • Skilled in adapting writing style to different audiences and communication channels
      • Capable of transforming complex technical information into accessible, engaging narratives
      • Proficient in editing and proofreading to ensure grammatical accuracy and stylistic consistency
      • Ability to develop and maintain a distinctive, professional voice across multiple projects


Computer Skills

  • Confident and effective computer skills in
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Drive, Gmail, etc.), Zoom and/or other virtual meeting platforms for the purpose of:
      • Presenting information (PowerPoint presentations, training videos, and audio files).
      • Connecting with individuals/groups using virtual platforms.
      • Collecting, entering, tracking, and analyzing data.
      • Budget management.
      • Sending and receiving emails.
      • Calendar scheduling.
    • Project management software
    • Social media management platforms
    • Analytics and reporting tools
    • Content management systems
    • Basic design software
  • Comfort using and learning new technology.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Valid Driver’s License or the ability to utilize a reliable alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
  • Valid automobile liability insurance is required if driving.

Preferred Competencies – Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications or a related field
  • Experience in nonprofit, international, or mission-driven organizations
  • Understanding of the Promotora Model or other community leadership models and its role in creating health equity in communities in California, nationally, and internationally.
  • Understanding of communication theory and project management tools
  • Basic graphic design and multimedia content creation skills

  • Frequently moves outreach equipment weighing up to 20 pounds across worksites, into and out of vehicles, and in the community for various class and event needs.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the home office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.


  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.

Work Environment



  • This job operates primarily remotely from an approved remote or home office, with frequent travel to and work within local offices, community centers, hotels, or conference centers.

  • 25% of the time traveling around neighborhoods and mobile clinic sites.
  • The noise level in these various work environments is typically quiet to moderate
