We are currently seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support our growing team in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.

Position Overview

The Project Controls Engineer plays a key role in supporting construction project teams by providing planning, scheduling, cost control, risk analysis, and reporting services. This position ensures alignment with financial goals, project timelines, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and finance teams to track performance and support effective project decision‑making.

Key ResponsibilitiesSchedule Management

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules (MS Project or equivalent)
  • Monitor schedule performance and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform critical path and float analysis
  • Prepare look‑ahead schedules and schedule reports

Cost Control

  • Assist in developing project budgets and cost control systems
  • Track actual vs. budgeted costs and forecast expenditures
  • Monitor earned value metrics and cost variances
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and trend analysis
  • Produce vendor statements of work and change order documents
  • Review and record vendor invoices

Estimating & Budgeting

  • Support project estimating and budget development
  • Validate contractor/vendor proposals
  • Maintain change logs and track approved change orders

Risk Management

  • Identify and track project risks and mitigation plans
  • Assist with risk registers and quantitative risk analyses
  • Support schedule and cost contingency planning

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
  • Maintain accurate project controls documentation
  • Support project meetings and closeout processes
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)

Systems & Tools

  • Utilize project control tools (MS Project, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SAP, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Integrate data from various systems for consolidated reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field
  • 3–7 years of experience in project controls or project management within construction
  • Proficiency in scheduling and cost control software
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle and cost engineering principles
  • Familiarity with contract types (lump sum, cost‑plus, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills for team and stakeholder interaction
  • Willingness to work in both office and on-site project environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP® (Project Management Professional)
  • PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional)
  • Experience in commercial, medical diagnostics, manufacturing, or warehousing construction
  • Exposure to BIM and integrated project delivery methods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
