Project Controls / Planning Engineer
Role Overview
The Project Controls / Planning Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of project planning, scheduling, progress tracking, reporting, and document management are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives and governance requirements.
This role provides critical support to project management and engineering teams by integrating design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational data into project schedules, monitoring progress, assessing risks, and maintaining structured and auditable project documentation.
The successful candidate will combine strong project controls expertise with excellent coordination, analytical, and communication skills to support the successful delivery of large-scale security, infrastructure, technology, and engineering projects across multidisciplinary environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and update project programme baselines in line with project objectives and contractual requirements.
- Integrate design, procurement, manufacturing, construction, testing, and commissioning activities into the master project schedule.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and stage gates to ensure timely project execution.
- Support resource planning, allocation, and optimisation across multiple project phases and workstreams.
- Conduct schedule analysis to identify, Potential delays, Critical path impacts, Resource constraints, Schedule conflicts, Recovery opportunities
- Support scenario planning, schedule re-sequencing, and acceleration strategies to mitigate project risks and support delivery objectives.
- Coordinate planning activities across multidisciplinary engineering, security, ICT, construction, and operational teams.

2. Project Performance & Reporting
- Monitor project performance against the baseline schedule, identifying variances and causes.
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for project leadership and stakeholders.
- Analyse cost and schedule performance data to support project decision-making and reporting requirements.
- Support project governance and reporting processes throughout all project lifecycle phases..
3. Document Control & Compliance
- Manage all project documentation, ensuring correct filing, version control, and traceability.
- Oversee transmittals, approvals, revisions, and archiving in accordance with governance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations, and audit standards.
- Maintain structured, auditable records of project correspondence, technical documents, and design information.
- Support document coordination activities across multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.
4. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, and contractors to gather and validate progress data.
- Support workshops, meetings, and presentations with clear and accurate programme information.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams on document management processes and scheduling tools.
- Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely information flow.
- Support coordination activities across engineering, security, ICT, MEP, construction, and operational disciplines.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Programme development, baseline maintenance, schedule integration, critical path analysis, progress monitoring.
- Document Management, including version control, transmittals, audit readiness, record keeping, compliance.
- Risk analysis, delay impact assessment, change management evaluation.
- Expert in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Powerproject, Excel (advanced), SharePoint / Document Control systems.
- Developing and reporting against KPIs, dashboards, milestone tracking, performance summaries.
- Support project delivery by resource planning, stage gate management, project coordination.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, team collaboration, problem-solving, attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or AACE.
- Proven experience in project controls, planning, or document management on large-scale engineering, security, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of security or complex technical projects is advantageous.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary project teams and complex project delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of project governance, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with engineering drawings, technical documentation, and project coordination processes is advantageous.

Requirements

- Experience in data centre, mixed- use facilities/towers, commercial, industrial and Data centre and critical national infrastructure project design requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across project teams and external parties.
- Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to project delivery excellence.
- Ability to work within fast-paced, technically demanding, and deadline-driven project environments.
- Valid driving licence for the country of operation (mandatory).
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally as required (limited travel may be required).
