Project Estimator: Description of Duties & Responsibilities
Position Reports to: Estimating Supervisor and Vice President of Bid.
General Description: The food service equipment project estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial kitchen and food service projects. This role works closely with project managers, designers, VP of Bid, and ownership to interpret plans, specifications, and customer requirements to develop detailed proposals. The candidate must be able to read and interrupt specifications and drawings presented by General Contractor or Owner and work with our vendor base to fulfill these requirements.
The Estimating candidate will:

- Possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and kitchen design drawings
- Be able to multitask under pressure and manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously

- Be able to collaborate across departments
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Search for potential bidding opportunities through various search engines and subscription services
- Prepare Prequalification documents necessary to be considered an eligible bidder for a project
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial kitchen projects
- Develop accurate cost estimates, including equipment, freight, installation, and more
- Create and submit estimating reports or bids to appropriate people
- Prepare and submit formal proposals and bid packages
- Collaborate with Design Consultants, General Contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope
- Follow up and track all bid submissions
- Assist in project handoff (post award) to Project Management, Procurement, Support, and Accounting teams.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience with food service consultants and knowledge of food service equipment is a plus!
- 2+ years of estimating experience
- Familiar with construction bid processes
- Understanding of installation logistics and field conditions
- Microsoft Office with focus on Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Auto Quotes (CPQ Software) experience is preferred
- Aptness for attention to detail
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Proficiency with mixed media – printed, electronic, file transfer, and more
