Type: Full-Time - Part Time - Contract

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION! MUST BE WITHIN COMMUTING DISTANCE OF GREENSBORO, NC.

About KC’s

KC’s Improvement & Construction Co., Inc. is a locally owned design-build remodeling company serving the Triad for over 40 years. We specialize in thoughtful, high-quality residential renovations—kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home remodels—guided by our proven Dream Design Deliver process.

We’re not a high-pressure sales shop. We’re a relationship-driven design-build firm looking for professionals who enjoy guiding homeowners from first conversation through a clearly defined plan.

About the Role

As a Project Design Consultant, you’ll be the primary guide for homeowners during the pre-construction phase—from initial consultation through concept development, budgeting, and proposal creation.

This role blends client consultation, design thinking, scope development, and estimating. You’ll collaborate closely with our design and production teams to turn homeowner goals into clear, buildable plans.

If you enjoy helping people make confident decisions, translating ideas into real projects, and working within a structured design-build process, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do: Client Consultation & Relationship Building

  • Meet with homeowners to understand goals, needs, budget expectations, and timelines
  • Educate clients on KC’s design-build process and what to expect at each stage
  • Build trust through clear communication, professionalism, and transparency

Design & Pre-Construction Planning

  • Develop conceptual layouts, scopes of work, and preliminary design direction
  • Assist clients with selections and design decisions appropriate to their goals and budget
  • Coordinate with designers, estimators, and production staff to ensure feasibility

Budgeting & Proposals

  • Create realistic project budgets and price ranges using historical data and internal tools
  • Prepare clear, well-structured proposals that reflect scope, quality, and value
  • Present proposals and guide clients through decision-making

Project Handoff

  • Ensure smooth transition from pre-construction to production once a project is sold
  • Communicate scope, expectations, and details to the project management team

What We’re Looking For

We’re less concerned with titles you’ve held and more interested in how you think and communicate.

Ideal Backgrounds Include:

  • Design-build remodeling
  • Residential construction estimating
  • Remodeling sales or consulting
  • Interior design (with construction exposure)
  • Architecture or drafting with client interaction

Skills & Traits That Matter Here:

  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Comfort discussing budgets and scope without pressure tactics
  • Ability to balance design ideas with real-world construction considerations
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
  • Professional, trustworthy, and client-focused

What This Is Not

  • Not retail sales
  • Not cold calling
  • Not a pure interior design role
  • Not a project management position

This is a consultative, professional role focused on helping homeowners plan smart, successful renovations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + commission structure
  • Established lead flow (no hunting required)
  • Supportive team environment with clear systems and tools
  • Long-term growth opportunity within a stable, respected company

Why Join KC’s?

  • 40+ years of reputation and repeat clients
  • Clear design-build process (no chaos, no guesswork)
  • Quality-driven projects you can be proud of
  • Team culture built on trust, craftsmanship, and accountability

Ready to Apply?

If you enjoy guiding homeowners through meaningful renovation decisions and want to be part of a design-build team that values quality and relationships, we’d love to talk.
