Project/ Design Intern

Kay Davis Associates LLC is a commercial furniture dealership with a in-house interior design team supporting educational institutions (K-12, Higher Education), public and private entities. specializing in project management, space planning, interior design, and furniture procurement. Employment Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Project/Design Intern to join our team. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project coordination, interior design, space planning, and furniture specification. You will work closely with our professionals to support ongoing projects, contribute creative ideas, and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence.

Duties

  • Assist with drafting and modifying design plans using AutoCAD under supervision
  • Support project teams in preparing space plans, furniture layouts, and specifications
  • Participate in site visits to observe project progress and gather measurements or site details
  • Help compile project documentation, including schedules, reports, and procurement lists
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to understand product options and specifications
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations for client meetings or internal reviews to include finish presentations and client materials
  • Support the team in coordinating project timelines and tracking deliverables to ensure deadlines are met and other general support to the design and project team
  • Organize samples, fabric and product information in the Design Library

Experience/Skills

  • Currently enrolled in Interior Design Program or Degree
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD ; familiarity with other design software is a plus ie SketchUp, Canva, Microsoft Office, Indesign
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated a willingness to learn about project management and interior design processes with others in the field
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines given
