Project Director – Roads & Infrastructure

Overview

A leading main contractor in the UAE is looking to appoint an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of major roads and infrastructure projects across the region.

The business has an established presence within the infrastructure sector and is currently delivering a portfolio of large-scale developments including highways, bridges, utilities, public realm, and civil infrastructure works. This role will suit a commercially and operationally driven leader with extensive experience managing complex infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to handover.

The Role

As Project Director, you will hold full responsibility for the overall delivery, commercial performance, programme management, and stakeholder coordination of major infrastructure projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of major roads and infrastructure projects across the UAE
• Manage full project lifecycle from pre-construction through to completion and handover
• Oversee project planning, programme management, construction strategy, and execution
• Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual, commercial, and operational objectives
• Lead and manage project teams including construction, engineering, commercial, planning, and HSE functions
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, and subcontractors
• Drive project performance across cost, programme, quality, safety, and risk management
• Monitor commercial performance, budgets, cash flow, and forecasting alongside commercial teams
• Lead progress meetings and provide regular reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, contract requirements, and company standards
• Support business development activities and contribute to future project opportunities
• Mentor and develop senior project staff within the business

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

• Proven experience working as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager within a main contractor environment
• Strong background delivering major roads and infrastructure projects in the UAE
• Extensive knowledge of civil engineering construction methodologies and project delivery
• Experience managing large multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure developments
• Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership capabilities
• Ability to manage programme delivery within fast-paced project environments
• Strong communication, reporting, and client-facing skills
• UAE experience is essential
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• 16–18 years’ experience within roads and infrastructure construction
