Project Director and Lead Research

Position - Project Director and Lead Research Consultant

Location - 25 W. 43rd Street, Suite 1000, New York, NY 10036 (College Satellite Location)

Duration: 560 hours for this position.

Term – one (1) calendar year to commence after the issuance of a Purchase Order from the College to the Contractor.

Key Activities/Deliverables and Services to be Performed:

Working in close collaboration with AAARI leadership and project partners, the Consultant’s key activities and deliverables will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as Project Director overseeing overall project coordination, workflow, and execution of the statewide AAPI report.
  • Manage day-to-day project operations, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables, to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and support chapter authors and subject-matter experts contributing to the report.
  • Conduct, oversee, and synthesize comprehensive literature reviews relevant to AAPI populations in New York State.
  • Draft, co-write, and edit selected sections of the report to ensure clarity, consistency, and analytical rigor.
  • Oversee data acquisition needs and collaborate closely with the project’s data analyst to ensure accurate and appropriate use of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Coordinate with the editor and designer to ensure high editorial quality, visual coherence, and accessibility of the final report.
  • Ensure adherence to established research standards, reporting requirements, and project timelines mandated by the New York State AAPI Commission.
  • Support final production, review, and submission of the completed statewide report.

Qualifications:

Individual must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for the position:

  • The contractor must possess at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, urban planning, public administration, economics, sociology, public health, Asian American studies, or a closely related discipline.
  • The contractor must have a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in applied research, policy analysis, organizational leadership, or program evaluation related to social equity, population studies, or community-based research.

The contractor must also demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Leading or directing complex, multi-stakeholder research or policy initiatives, including multi author reports
  • Managing organizational or project operations, timelines, and deliverables
  • Conducting and synthesizing literature reviews and qualitative and quantitative research
  • Drafting and editing written materials for public, policy, and academic audiences
  • Coordinating across partners such as academic experts, government agencies, and community organizations
  • Equivalent experience may include senior leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, government advisory bodies, or advocacy organizations with demonstrated responsibility for research, policy development, and public reporting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a knowledge of and have practical experience utilizing best practices in research. Contractor must demonstrate excellent communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and multi-tasking are essential skills necessary for this position.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
