Project Engineer – Data Center Construction (On-Site - Contract or Perm)

Position Overview

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting field operations across large-scale, mission-critical construction projects.

This is a hands-on, on-site position where you’ll operate at the center of execution—working closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and field teams to drive coordination, maintain quality, and support day-to-day construction activities.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career looking to gain real field experience and grow into a Superintendent or Project Manager path within a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Field Support

• Support daily site operations in partnership with project leadership
• Act as a liaison between subcontractors, field teams, and management
• Track progress, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed

Quality Assurance & Site Oversight

• Perform site walks and inspections to ensure work aligns with plans and specifications
• Identify and address quality issues early to prevent rework and delays
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and project requirements
• Maintain accurate daily logs and documentation

RFI & Submittal Management

• Manage RFIs and submittals from initiation through resolution
• Coordinate with subcontractors and design teams to resolve technical issues
• Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation

Process & Performance Support

• Support workflow efficiency and communication across teams
• Contribute to maintaining project standards, safety, and quality benchmarks
• Assist in building scalable processes as project activity increases

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in project engineering or construction operations
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

• EIT certification
• Experience with Procore, BIM 360, or similar tools
• Exposure to large-scale or mission-critical construction projects
• Interest in progressing into a Superintendent or Project Manager role

Location & Structure

• 100% on-site at an active project location in Texas
• Project sites may be in rural or non-metropolitan areas
• Travel or temporary relocation required for project duration
• Contract role with potential for long-term conversion
