Project Engineer (Mechanical) - Sewerage PS

We, at Emarat Aloula are seeking a highly competent Project Engineer – Mechanical to support the operation and maintenance activities of a major Sewerage Main Pumping Station in Dubai. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, extensive UAE experience within sewerage/wastewater facilities, and proven expertise in managing mechanical systems, pump operations, and maintenance activities in large-scale utility environments.

This role requires strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted and optimized pumping station performance.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee the day-to-day mechanical operations of the sewerage main pumping station.
• Ensure efficient functioning of pumps, valves, mechanical equipment, and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor operational parameters and initiate corrective actions to prevent breakdowns or service disruptions.

Technical Engineering Support

• Prepare, review, and interpret mechanical drawings, O&M manuals, method statements, and maintenance reports.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend appropriate solutions to enhance reliability and performance.
• Supervise the installation, testing, commissioning, and repair of mechanical systems.

Project Coordination & Execution

• Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance tasks for all mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and control teams to ensure integrated system performance.
• Support upgrade projects, refurbishment works, and mechanical improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all maintenance and operational work is carried out in compliance with Dubai Municipality and UAE regulations.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures in alignment with company HSE policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation, records, logbooks, and maintenance histories.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and service providers for maintenance and spare parts procurement.
• Review technical quotations and assist in evaluating vendor capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant UAE experience, specifically in sewerage/wastewater pumping stations, utilities, or O&M projects.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Large-capacity pumps (centrifugal, submersible, etc.)
• Valve and pipeline systems
• Mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance
• O&M standards and procedures
• Strong understanding of mechanical troubleshooting and equipment diagnostics.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of Dubai Municipality standards and local authority procedures is an added advantage.
