Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Review structural drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Prepare project schedules for fabrication and erection activities.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Monitor project progress and resolve site issues.
Fabrication Management
- Coordinate with workshop/fabrication team.
- Ensure materials meet project specifications.
- Monitor cutting, welding, drilling, and assembly activities.
- Track fabrication progress against schedule.
Site Execution & Installation
- Supervise steel erection activities at site.
- Ensure alignment with approved shop drawings.
- Coordinate crane operations and lifting plans.
- Monitor manpower productivity and resource allocation.
Technical Documentation
- Review shop drawings before submission.
- Prepare RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Handle MIRs (Material Inspection Requests).
- Submit method statements and inspection requests.
Safety Compliance
- Follow site HSE regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks with site teams.
- Ensure safe lifting and erection procedures.
- Monitor work-at-height safety practices.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Track daily progress reports.
- Monitor delays and propose recovery plans.
- Coordinate material delivery schedules.
- Support project manager in planning updates.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of structural steel drawings
- Familiarity with fabrication processes
- Site erection experience
- AutoCAD knowledge (preferred)
- Understanding of welding standards
- Planning & coordination skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Communication with consultants & clients
Qualification Requirements
Typical requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Civil / Structural Engineering
- 3–8 years experience in steel fabrication & erection projects
- Experience in industrial, warehouse, or commercial steel structures
