Project Geotechnical Engineer

Potesta & Associates, Inc., a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices in West Virginia and Virginia, is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support a diverse range of infrastructure, site development, transportation, and environmental projects throughout the region.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both field investigations and engineering design while working alongside experienced civil, environmental, and geotechnical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare geotechnical reports, engineering analyses, design recommendations, and technical specifications
  • Plan and oversee subsurface investigations, including drilling coordination and field testing
  • Evaluate soil and rock conditions using field observations and laboratory data
  • Develop recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, earthwork, and site development
  • Perform construction observation and QA/QC review during project implementation
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and clients
  • Assist with proposals, scopes of work, scheduling, and budget development

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering
  • EIT certification or PE licensure preferred, or the ability to obtain
  • 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience preferred
  • Familiarity with site development, transportation, and infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment
