Job Summary
Pacific West Industries is seeking an experienced Project Lead Installer / Working Foreman to lead commercial HVAC mechanical installation projects throughout Southern California. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing field crews while actively participating in installations including ductwork, piping, equipment replacements, and mechanical system installations.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-focused, and capable of leading projects from kickoff through completion while maintaining strong communication with Project Managers, General Contractors, and field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead crews of 2–10 field employees on active job sites
- Actively perform HVAC mechanical installations alongside field crews
- Lead daily jobsite planning, task assignments, and crew coordination
- Review project plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and schedules
- Layout ductwork, piping, equipment, and mechanical system installations
- Coordinate work with General Contractors, subcontractors, and other trades
- Perform material takeoffs and coordinate material/equipment needs
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, code requirements, and company quality standards
- Troubleshoot field installation issues and provide practical solutions
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior installers in proper installation methods and jobsite expectations
- Enforce company safety procedures and maintain a safe, organized work environment
- Complete daily field reports including manpower, production progress, delays, and material needs
- Conduct ongoing quality control inspections and final punch walk completion
- Assist with startup coordination, inspections, and project closeout activities
- Occasional use of Procore or similar project management software
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC mechanical installation experience preferred
- Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of ductwork, piping, equipment setting, and HVAC installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and specifications
- Experience coordinating work on commercial construction projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage crews while maintaining productivity and quality workmanship
- Familiarity with public works and school projects preferred
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred
- Ability to pass background check required
