The Agency Fund is a nonprofit innovation lab working to expand human agency — people’s ability to make and act on meaningful choices.
We combine the agility of a startup with the reach of a global network, building projects at the intersection of technology, AI, and social science. Our small, distributed team brings together engineers, designers, researchers, and strategists who care deeply about using technology for human good. We’ve partnered with 200+ organizations worldwide, reaching millions annually through digital tools, behavioral insights, and scalable interventions. We value curiosity, autonomy, and collaboration — and we operate more like a mission-driven startup than a traditional NGO.
We’re looking for a full-time Project Manager to join our team. You’ll coordinate and manage a large-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Noora Health’s maternal and child health program in India. You’ll work closely with data and behavioral scientists from The Agency Fund, researchers from UC Berkeley, data collectors from the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), and our partners at Noora Health.
Noora Health’s Care Companion Program model trains healthcare staff to readily transfer health skills to family caregivers, then provides mobile follow-up guidance and support for families once they return home. Noora onboards 3-4 designated “Master Trainers” in each healthcare facility through a 3-day immersive Training of Trainers, and these Master Trainers then train other staff within their facilities to deliver the program. The master trainers are also supported over time - both through digital and in person touchpoints with Noora Health’s implementation team. Families are also encouraged to sign up for the mobile CCP, which provides families messaging on key health behaviors and answers families’ questions.
The project is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a pilot phase to demonstrate the causal impact and cost-effectiveness of Noora Health’s Care Companion Program on neonatal health outcomes. This will be done in partnership with The Agency Fund, the University of California Berkeley, JPAL, Noora Health, and WHO.
This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in fluid, collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments and wants to contribute to a mission-driven organization.
What you'll do:
Organize and document weekly meetings with various teams and partners involved in the RCT
Track and follow up on deliverables and action items for all stakeholders to ensure accountability
Identify and bring up issues, needs, risks, and blockers to progress
Review project performance to identify areas for improvement
Ensure timely and rigorous completion of the RCT, including funding submissions, government permissions and relations, IRB approval, data collection and monitoring, program operations, etc.
Who you are:
Have a Master’s degree in economics, public health, statistics, management, or a related field
Have 2-3 years of work experience in project management, especially in the non-profit or social impact sector
Have strong organization, communication, and prioritization skills
Can be assertive and tactful to ensure timely and quality execution
Are comfortable in a relatively flat team structure
Are willing to work across time zones (primarily India Standard Time, with colleagues in the U.S.)
Care deeply about impact, curiosity, and learning
Thrive in a collaborative environment where feedback is shared openly
Bonus points if you have:
Familiarity with RCTs or similar empirical research.
Knowledge of basic statistics, e.g., OLS regression.
Experience working remotely and across time zones.
Why join us:
True Flexibility and Remote-First Culture: We believe in results over rigid schedules. As a globally distributed team, we have built a culture that supports you doing your best work, wherever and whenever that is.
Global Collaboration: Join a small, talented, and mission-driven team distributed across the globe.
Collaborate with Bold Thinkers: Work alongside experts in software, AI, social psychology, and development economics who are solving complex global problems.
Mission-Driven Impact: The Agency Fund is focused on expanding human agency. Your work will directly contribute to projects that improve health outcomes, social impact, and expand the capabilities of millions through AI and data-driven technology.
Compensation & Growth: We offer salaries benchmarked to be internationally competitive, paying higher than local market rates in most regions to attract world-class talent, while maintaining the sustainability of our non-profit mission.
