Project Site Engineer (Located in Liberia)

We are currently seeking a Project Site Engineer to join our dynamic team in Liberia, supporting the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects including Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF), water dams (DAM), and water management systems.


Key Responsibilities


  • Coordinate engineering and design activities for TSF and DAM projects across all project phases.
  • Review and monitor detailed designs, stability analyses, and technical documentation prepared by engineering consultants.
  • Supervise construction activities including starter walls, sediment ponds, and diversion channels under CQA requirements.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and ensure proper quality control documentation.
  • Support hydrogeological and geotechnical studies, including groundwater monitoring and risk assessments.
  • Monitor installation and performance of piezometers (VWP) and observation wells.
  • Support water balance, flood control, and surface drainage modeling activities.
  • Coordinate contractors, material supply, and on-site logistics to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor technical scope and compliance of contracts and variations with engineering and contractor firms.
  • Prepare technical evaluations, reports, and provide regular updates to the Technical Projects Manager.
  • Support preparation of periodic departmental reports in coordination with relevant stakeholders.


Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Environmental Engineering. Background in geotechnics, water structures, or mining infrastructure is preferred.


Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in dam construction, TSF projects, or mining infrastructure. Experience in both design review and site-based engineering roles is an advantage. Previous experience working with international engineering standards or consultants is preferred.


Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD. Knowledge of Civil 3D, GIS, or hydrogeological/hydrological modeling software is an asset. Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, reports, and calculations. Familiarity with CQA processes, groundwater monitoring systems, and water management models is a plus.


Soft Skills: Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams. Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and strong documentation discipline. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, field-based environment.


Additional Requirements: Fluency in English (written and spoken) at a professional/technical level. Willingness to work on-site in remote mining locations. Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
