About the Role:
The Projects Director provides strategic leadership and overall direction for all construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role oversees project managers and site teams, builds strong client and consultant relationships, and ensures alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Strategic & Leadership
- Lead and manage the execution of multiple large-scale projects across various locations.
- Develop and implement project delivery strategies aligned with the company’s vision and business objectives.
- Ensure all projects follow company policies, industry standards, and local authority requirements.
- Act as the senior representative of the company with clients, consultants, and government authorities.
- Mentor, coach, and develop project management teams to build high-performing delivery units.
Project Planning & Execution
- Oversee the development of project execution plans, resource allocation, and timelines.
- Ensure proper coordination between technical, procurement, commercial, and operations teams.
- Anticipate risks, establish mitigation plans, and resolve high-level issues across projects.
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Monitor and control project budgets, costs, cash flow, and profitability.
- Approve project cost forecasts, claims, and variations, ensuring commercial viability.
- Ensure subcontractor and supplier agreements align with project requirements and budgets.
- Review progress payments, certifications, and financial reports regularly.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure projects comply with HSE standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory codes.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality performance.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions in case of deviations.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the main escalation point for client concerns, consultant queries, and contractual disputes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure repeat business.
- Represent the company in high-level meetings, negotiations, and project reviews.
Reporting & Governance
- Provide the CEO/Managing Director with regular updates on project performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Establish KPIs to track project progress, safety, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
- Implement governance frameworks to ensure accountability and transparency in project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive experience in large-scale construction projects, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership/director role.
- Proven track record in managing mega projects (high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, infrastructure, etc.) in the UAE/GCC.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage project finances, claims, and contracts.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Deep understanding of UAE construction laws, local authorities’ regulations, and international standards.
