Proofreader/Copy Editor

Publisher of New Age and metaphysical products seeks experienced, detail-oriented proofreader.

Our creative team is seeking an eagle-eyed, meticulous proofreader who is able to multi-task on a variety of projects.

Proofreading:

· Editing manuscripts to include: fact checking, proofing for typos, grammar, clarity, style and spelling consistency. Refer to house style sheets. Run text through Grammarly and check for possible AI usage.

· Proofread each stage of product development, including guidebook in Adobe InCopy, box copy, etc.

· Proofread new products as well as reprints, eBooks, etc.

· Check all final box designs, printer proofs, and production samples to make sure ISBNs, item SKUs, copyright information, etc. are correct.

· Proofread all marketing materials including correspondence, ads, catalogs, price sheets, Constant Contact campaigns, etc.

· Maintain status updates at each stage of proofreading using Trello.

Product Review Management:

· Maintain reviewer database (individuals and publications).

· Find new reviewers and influencers.

· Send new reviewer guidelines and track reviews.

· Send sample products and tracking numbers to reviewers.

· Monitor and collect other reviews from online channels (Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, other SM, etc) edit/trim long reviews and send edited reviews to our webmaster to post on our website.

Marketing & Public Relations

· Review and expand product descriptions on website and send to a Webmaster to update.

· Create Amazon A+ page content for new and backlist products following Amazon guidelines and house style sheets.

· Create Constant Contact newsletters.

· Maintain Pinterest: Update new & upcoming product boards.

· Maintain TikTok: Upload one new video each week.

Miscellaneous:

· Help find new artists and authors.

· Send new author guidelines.

· Create project-specific style sheets (i.e. notes about spelling choices—British vs American etc.—which words are capitalized, maintain basic consistency).

· Review author sample writings.

· Help write/edit author and artist profiles.

Requirements and qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant experience

· Familiarity with AP and other style guides

· Fact-checking and research expertise

· Excellent grammar and communication skills

· Proficiency in basic programs, such as Microsoft Office

Major pluses:

· Knowledge of and/or proficiency with Adobe inCopy

· Knowledge of and/or proficiency with Adobe Acrobat

· Interest in tarot and other mind/body/spirit topics

· Bilingual skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
