Propane Dispatcher

Position Summary

The Propane Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling propane deliveries to residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial customers. This role serves as the primary communication link between customers, drivers, service technicians, and management to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch propane delivery drivers based on customer needs, route efficiency, weather conditions, and inventory levels.
  • Monitor daily delivery schedules and adjust routes as necessary to accommodate emergencies, will-call orders, and service requests.
  • Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding route changes, delivery updates, and operational issues.
  • Coordinate with customer service representatives to address delivery inquiries, tank levels, and service concerns.
  • Prioritize emergency and out-of-gas situations to minimize service disruptions.
  • Utilize dispatch and routing software to optimize delivery efficiency and driver productivity.
  • Oversee tank monitor assets, troubleshoot tank monitors, keep and maintain records of tank monitors, work with vendors to resolve issues involving tank monitors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable industry standards.
  • Assist with billing, reporting, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through professional and courteous communication.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or logistics experience preferred.
  • Previous dispatching, transportation, logistics, or propane industry experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, dispatch software, Microsoft Office, and data entry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of propane operations, routing, or fuel delivery systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and email.
  • Occasional lifting of office materials up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Office-based position with frequent interaction with drivers, customers, and operations personnel.
  • May require occasional after-hours, weekend, or on-call support during peak heating seasons, severe weather events, or emergencies.
