Job Description: Property Recovery Specialist
Rathbone Group is seeking an individual to fill a Recovery Specialist position on our Subrogation Team. This role requires coordination and investigation using sharp analytical skills to recover complex property, right of recovery and other subrogation claims by pursuing the responsible party as well as providing service to policyholders. Our goal is to identify and employ confident, self-starting, highly motivated individuals who display high energy, intelligence and the natural curiosity we believe are fundamental to our investigative process and achieving our departmental financial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and determine the best approach for subrogating the clients’ rights of recovery
- Demonstrate confident, professional verbal and written communication skills to successfully negotiate recoveries with carriers, attorneys, third parties and/or co-defendants
- Notify third party and/or third-party insurance carrier of our subrogation and right of recovery
- Investigate and identify all responsible parties, determining liability using all available resources to maximize the recovery
- Execute additional investigation as determined by the needs of the file and request of management
- Draft prudent offer and/or litigation recommendations to client
- Make suitable referrals to legal counsel to initiate litigation or intercede when appropriate
- Document thorough, precise file notes outlining actions taken and steps to resolve the claim
- Ensure that the claim file has all documents to support recovery efforts by updating files and providing comprehensive reports as required
- Verifies liability and negligence scenarios for the jurisdiction in question
- Other tasks or projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Successful recovery and insurance or subrogation experience.
- Exceptional proven negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Self-motivated; able to work independently with a sense of urgency
- Technical knowledge of multiple claims lines with a national scope; demonstrated successful auto or liability claims experience is strongly preferred; comprehension of personal or commercial auto claims handling and the variances of subrogation between the two policy types is a plus
- Knowledge of general insurance policy coverage, statutes, regulations, and case law with a bearing on legal liability, collections and subrogation processing
- Strong analytical abilities
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient using various computer products including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
