JOB
Assists the department with custodial services as it pertains to property and evidence articles to ensure proper issuance and distribution of police supplies and to ensure safeguarding of evidence for legal proceedings.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Receives, catalogues, secures and issues upon request various evidence items needed for legal proceedings. Obtains orders of destruction from the Courts for articles of contraband and destroys those articles.Transports items of evidence to and from the state forensic lab when required.Maintains evidence logs and records, and prepares reports for management.Processes seized money in accordance with law.

Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled, pleasant environment, but worker is exposed to unpleasant-looking evidence and to potentially dangerous materials under custody.Essential Physical Activities: Stooping, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, depth perception.
