Attorney II, III, and IV – Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney’s OfficePay Range: Attorney II: $111,491 – $125,556 annually (Step 1–7)Attorney III: $126,184 – $142,104 annually (Step 1–7)Attorney IV: $143,880 – $175,389 annually (Step 1–11)Closing Date: Open until filled (applications reviewed weekly) About the PositionThe Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking highly motivated and experienced attorneys to join our team at the Attorney II, Attorney III, and Attorney IV levels. These positions provide an excellent opportunity to work in a professional, collegial, and fast-paced environment while handling a wide variety of criminal and civil matters.Assignments are made at the discretion of the Prosecutor and may include Juvenile, District Court, Felony, or Special Assault divisions. Attorneys in these roles handle cases of moderate to high complexity and seriousness, with varying levels of supervision depending on experience.Key ResponsibilitiesCriminal Law: Evaluate cases, review reports, make charging decisions, negotiate pleas, prepare trial strategies, and represent the State at hearings and trials.Civil Law: Represent the State or clients in child support enforcement, civil commitment, truancy, at-risk youth, dependency proceedings, and related matters.Corporate Counsel Civil Matters: Draft ordinances, resolutions, and contracts; provide legal advice and training to County officials and employees.Courtroom Representation: Conduct jury selection, opening and closing arguments, direct and cross examinations, and post-trial motions.Additional Duties: Prepare appellate briefs, legal correspondence, and participate in office and community training programs.QualificationsAttorney IIAdmission to the Washington State BarMinimum of four (4) years of law practice experienceAttorney IIIAdmission to the Washington State BarAdmission to practice before the Washington State Supreme CourtMinimum of eight (8) years of law practice experienceAttorney IVAdmission to the Washington State BarAdmission to practice before the Washington State Supreme CourtMinimum of twelve (12) years of law practice experienceAdditional Requirements: Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance at time of employmentSuccessful completion of a background check, including fingerprinting Why Join Yakima County?Competitive salary with advancement through pay stepsOpportunities to handle a diverse and meaningful caseloadA collaborative and supportive team environmentThe ability to serve and make a difference in the Yakima County communityApply Today!Positions remain open until filled, with weekly application reviews.
