Prototype Fixture Builder
Job Summary:
The Prototype Fixture Builder is responsible for the fabrication of welded fixtures to support product development.
Duties:
- Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification
- MIG weld steel as directed
- Work with customers, design and other departments to develop and deliver fabricated fixtures
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
- Follow all company rules and policies
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
- Follow all safety rules and quality standards
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
Abilities and Skills:
- Must be able to MIG weld to AWS standards
- Must be able to use hand tools and machinery to fabricate fixtures in prototype shop
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints- including basic weld symbols per print
- Must be able to use assorted measuring devices including calipers and tape measures (up to 1/32”) accurately
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and stand continuously for long periods of time
- Must use Personal Protective Equipment required for Welders
- Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing welded steel products
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently
- Willing to work in excess of 40 hours a week
Education/Experience
- 1-5 years’ welding experience in a steel rack manufacturing facility required
