Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Provisioning Accountant to manage and oversee the provisioning processes within our accounting department. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate recognition of provisions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as IFRS 9, and contributing to the overall financial reporting process. You will collaborate with various departments, supporting effective risk management and enabling strategic decision-making for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision Calculation: Manage and calculate provisions for bad debts, impairments, and other financial reserves in accordance with IFRS 9 and local regulations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports related to provisioning, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Risk Assessment: Analyze financial statements and assess the need for provisions based on risk exposure, market conditions, and business performance.
• Data Analysis: Review and analyze financial data to identify potential areas for provisioning, ensuring all necessary reserves are appropriately accounted for.
• Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for provisioning activities.
• Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all provisioning activities align with applicable accounting principles, including IFRS 9, IFRS 15, and local Qatari regulations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with finance, risk management, and compliance teams to assess and manage provisioning requirements.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate provisioning processes and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Forecasting & Budgeting: Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing data on provisioning levels to help guide the company’s financial strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, with a focus on provisioning, impairments, or risk management.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS 9, IFRS 15, and other relevant accounting standards related to provisioning.
• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in financial data.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of local financial regulations and compliance requirements in Qatar is a plus.
• Fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
• Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, or similar) are highly desirable.
