Job description - PRT English Teacher

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated PRT English Teacher who will take full ownership of delivering engaging and effective English language lessons at GD Goenka Flagship School. This is a role that requires independence and initiative, where the teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing age-appropriate English lessons, ensuring academic excellence, curriculum alignment, and the holistic development of students.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibility of the PRT English Teacher includes, but are not limited to -

-Academic Responsibilities:

● Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English language lessons aligned with the school curriculum and academic plan.

● Develop students’ foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through age-appropriate teaching strategies.

● Create a positive, interactive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and confidence in language learning.

● Design lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and learning resources to support differentiated learning needs.

● Integrate phonics, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, creative writing, and storytelling into daily instruction.

● Maintain discipline, enthusiasm, and a positive learning atmosphere during every activity.

● Collaborate with other faculty members for academic projects, school productions, and events.

-Administrative Responsibilities:

● Ensure compliance with school policies, child protection, and safeguarding regulations.

● Coordinate logistics, scheduling, resources, and vendor support for events and programs.

● Maintain records of activities, participation, permissions, and outcomes.

● Prepare reports, proposals, and documentation related to activities and events.

● Participate actively in staff meetings, training programs, and school events.

-Community Engagement Responsibilities:

● Promote values of teamwork, discipline, inclusivity, and responsibility through co-curricular programs.

● Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, learning needs, and areas of improvement.

● Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding activity schedules, participation, and requirements.

● Identify and nurture students’ talents across sports, arts, leadership, and cultural domains.

● Encourage participation in extracurricular activities and clubs.

● Encourage reading habits, language appreciation, and participation in literary activities and clubs.

● Support student well-being by creating engaging, balanced, and inclusive activity opportunities.

● Work collaboratively with colleagues, subject coordinators, and the academic leadership team.

● Promote values of respect, responsibility, inclusivity, and discipline through classroom practices.

● Engage with parents/guardians to share concerns and collaborate on student well-being.

● Participate in school assemblies, events, and extracurricular activities that contribute to student welfare and community building.

2. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

● Bachelor’s or master’s degree in English from a recognized institution.

● Teaching Degree (B.Ed.) is mandatory (preferred).

● Strong academic background in English language and literature.

● Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience in a school environment.

● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

● Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students.

● Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

4. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• In addition to the above, responsibilities will include any other tasks/assignments or work assigned by the Principal/Administrator/Management/Respective CXO/Promoters.
