Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview

Healthy Endeavors is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing Mesa-based practice. We specialize in working with children, teens, young adults, and families, and we have a limited need for adult care.

The PMHNP will independently assess, diagnose, prescribe, and manage treatment plans for clients ages 6 and older. The ideal candidate is comfortable providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and collaborating on behavioral and therapeutic interventions to children and adults, 6 years and older.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Provide medication management and monitoring, including controlled substances in compliance with Arizona Board of Nursing, DEA, and CSPMP requirements.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to promote understanding of mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Work closely with other providers in the practice to support holistic, team-based care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Provide care both in-person (Tempe, AZ) and via telehealth.

Follow-up and Monitoring

  • Monitor client progress through ongoing sessions, adjust therapeutic approaches as needed, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams when necessary.
  • Adjust treatment protocols based on clinical outcomes and patient feedback.
  • Address concerns of the family by the next business day.
  • Return calls and messages by the next business day.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Maintain open communication with the care team to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, case managers, and external mental health providers to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.

Practice Development

  • Contribute insights and suggestions to improve care delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in training sessions and initiatives to enhance team skills and knowledge

Documentation

  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in the practice’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of billing and claims charges, adhering to organizational policies and regulatory guidelines to support efficient revenue cycle processes. Completion and signing of charts, visits, claim charges, etc. no later than 7 days after the appointment.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and practice-specific regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

Regulatory Compliance

  • Uphold Arizona’s scope-of-practice laws, including maintaining licensure.
  • Adhere to the practice’s policies regarding patient care and professional conduct.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Active and unrestricted Arizona APRN license with PMHNP certification.
  • Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority.
  • CSPMP registration and compliance with Arizona prescribing regulations.
  • Prior experience with children, adolescents, and young adults strongly preferred.
  • Comfort with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and related conditions; experience with ADHD evaluations is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Up-to-date CAQH
  • Proof of Malpractice Insurance with a minimum of 1M and 3M

Equipment:

  • Computer or Laptop with Windows 10 or macOS, a modern processor (Intel i5 or higher or equivalent), and at least 8GB RAM. A webcam with at least 720p resolution (1080p preferred). Microphone and speakers/headset.
  • Stable Internet Connection: Broadband or high-speed internet with a minimum upload and download speed of 10 Mbps.
  • Up-to-date antivirus software

Compensation and Benefits

  • Per-Session Payment:
  • $65 for 99215
  • $50 for 99214
  • $35 for 99213
  • Quarterly Bonus Plan:
  • Based on performance metrics, including patient volume, satisfaction scores, and documentation accuracy.
  • Financial performance bonuses are tied to practice success.
  • Additional Benefits:
  • After 12 months with the practice, you qualify for:
  • CEU reimbursement.
  • Malpractice insurance reimbursement.
  • Longevity bonus.
  • May have flexible scheduling, with in-person and remote telehealth opportunities available. Remote work is subject to practice needs and patient preferences. One day a week of in-person availability is required.
