Job Summary

Behavioral Health Connections (BHC), the psychology services arm of the Behavioral Health Pathways family, is seeking a warm, clinically strong, and culturally responsive Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our growing multidisciplinary team.

This role is ideal for a provider who values holistic, evidence-based psychiatric care within a collaborative outpatient group practice setting. The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychoeducation, and collaborative treatment planning for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, life transitions, and high-performance stress.

Our ideal candidate believes in care that is both clinically excellent and deeply human. We expect all of our colleagues to meet clients with compassion, transparency, and respect for the cultural, systemic, and identity-based factors that shape mental health experiences.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic clarification, and medication management appointments for outpatient clients across the lifespan
  • Develop individualized, trauma-informed treatment plans that integrate psychopharmacology, behavioral interventions, psychotherapy collaboration, and wellness-based supports
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications while providing clear education around benefits, risks, side effects, and long-term care planning
  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, therapists, interns, and administrative leadership to ensure continuity of care and excellent client outcomes
  • Support integrated service lines including psychotherapy, psychological assessments, ADHD clinic workflows, and specialized care pathways
  • Maintain timely and compliant documentation within SimplePractice EMR, ensuring alignment with HIPAA, payer, and quality-assurance standards
  • Provide telehealth and in-person psychiatric services based on client and practice needs
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case consultation, clinical team meetings, and service-development initiatives that strengthen the organization’s impact in the community
  • Deliver affirming and inclusive psychiatric care to BIPOC clients, LGBTQIA+ folx, children, families, veterans, and high-achieving professionals

Qualifications

  • Current PMHNP-BC certification with active Maryland licensure and prescriptive authority
  • DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled medications in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatry, private practice, community mental health, or integrated behavioral health settings preferred
  • Strong clinical knowledge of mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depressive disorders, and lifespan psychiatric presentations
  • Experience serving children, adolescents, adults, and family systems strongly preferred
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, identity-affirming, and trauma-informed psychiatric care
  • Strong documentation practices and comfort using EMR systems, preferably SimplePractice
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a training-forward, multidisciplinary group practice model
  • Bilingual (Strongly preferred but not required)

What Makes This Role Unique

This is more than a medication management role. This is an opportunity to help shape a growing psychology-centered care model rooted in healing, clarity, diagnosis, and direction. The PMHNP will play a vital role in expanding access to thoughtful psychiatric care while collaborating with a deeply mission-driven team committed to empowering the most authentic and holistic version of every client we serve.
