Looking for PMHNP's with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Primarily given prerference to providers who can provide both psychotherapy and medication management. We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a diverse patient population. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations, patient history reviews, and risk evaluations to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications using current clinical guidelines and best practices, ensuring safe and effective medication administration.
- Provide psychotherapy services, including individual, group, or family therapy sessions tailored to each patient's needs.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and coping strategies.
- Monitor patient progress through regular follow-ups, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing mental health services.
- Assist with triage during urgent cases by prioritizing patient needs and coordinating immediate interventions when required.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Engage in continuing education opportunities related to psychopharmacology, trauma-informed care, or emerging mental health treatments such as esthetic laser treatments or botulinum toxin procedures if applicable.
Qualifications
- Current valid license as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP-BC or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience providing psychiatric care across diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, emergency rooms, or crisis centers.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner or similar platforms for documentation and order entry.
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications including indications, contraindications, side effects, and monitoring parameters.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to evaluate complex mental health conditions in children, adolescents, adults or geriatrics.
- Experience managing acute episodes of mental illness within hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or critical care units is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with behavioral health interventions including trauma-informed care and pain management strategies.
- Ability to perform procedures such as venipuncture for lab testing or medication administration; experience with suturing or IV infusion is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and engaging patients empathetically.
- Knowledge of relevant laws including Workers’ Compensation Law and regulations governing hospice & palliative medicine if applicable.
- Additional skills in areas like telehealth delivery models, neuropsychiatric assessments (e.g., memory care), or specialized treatments such as dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments are advantageous but not required.
