Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients of all ages.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Provide medication management, including administration and monitoring of psychotropic medications.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Offer psychotherapy and counseling services as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to enhance treatment methodologies.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Perform necessary procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, and other relevant interventions.
Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of the following skills:
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or hospital settings.
- Knowledge of behavioral health practices and psychopharmacology.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) and CPT coding.
- Experience with telehealth services and outpatient care.
- Strong patient assessment skills including vital signs monitoring and diagnostic evaluation.
- Ability to perform procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, spinal tap, and airway management.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of pain management techniques and acute pain management strategies.
- Understanding of hospice & palliative medicine principles.
