Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health services, including psychiatric assessments, medication management, and therapy for diverse patient populations. This role requires a strong foundation in clinical evaluation, pharmacology, and patient-centered care, with experience across various healthcare settings such as inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth environments. The PMHNP will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality mental health care aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations utilizing medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluation, patient history, and clinical research data.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
  • Provide psychotherapy and behavioral health interventions tailored to patients’ needs across age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics patients. .
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and medical records management.
  • Engage in telehealth services to expand access to mental health care while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Participate in discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and outpatient follow-up to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for accurate medical coding and documentation.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during procedures like catheterization or specimen collection.

Experience

  • Proven experience working in behavioral health settings with a focus on psychiatric assessment and treatment planning.
  • Clinical experience in MAT preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth is highly desirable.
  • Background working with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), seniors (geriatrics), or those with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology including medication management.
