Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a diverse patient population across outpatient and inpatient settings. Your expertise will help improve mental health outcomes by delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care, including medication management and psychotherapy. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications while ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, or other evidence-based approaches tailored to patient needs.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Manage urgent psychiatric crises, including de-escalation techniques and emergency interventions when necessary.
  • Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication side effects, and self-care strategies to promote recovery and resilience.

Skills

  • Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication administration and monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop personalized treatment plans based on clinical evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
