Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy referrals, and lifestyle modifications.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including complex regimens involving psychotropic agents.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services for diverse populations.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, medication adherence, and coping strategies to promote recovery and resilience.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid licensure in the practicing state.
- Proven experience in behavioral health settings with exposure to acute care environments such as emergency rooms or psychiatric units preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, diagnostic evaluation (ICD-10 coding), and clinical research methodologies.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments related to mental health conditions.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage, patient education, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
