We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and diagnostic assessments using ICD-10 coding standards.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including psychopharmacology treatments such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
- Provide patient education on medication administration, side effects, and behavioral health strategies to promote adherence and recovery.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient encounters and treatment progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases, discharge planning, and utilization review processes.
- Engage in telehealth services to extend mental health support across different locations and improve access to care.
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems for efficient medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management strategies.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, assisted living residents, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Familiarity with clinical research protocols and behavioral health assessment tools.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs assessment in accordance with medical standards.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques such as mental status exams, trauma-informed care approaches, and substance use evaluations.
