Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities such as Botulinum toxin treatment when appropriate.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring safe and effective medication management aligned with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate holistic patient care across outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth platforms.
  • Provide crisis intervention and triage services for acute behavioral health episodes within emergency room or urgent care settings.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, maintaining compliance with medical documentation standards.
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to promote recovery and well-being.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid state licensure.
  • Proven experience in behavioral health settings, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and experience prescribing medications using CPT coding standards.
  • Strong assessment skills in diverse populations including pediatrics (working with children), geriatrics (memory care), or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and clinical research when applicable.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $145,904.69 - $175,713.17 per year
