Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), where you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals experiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions, utilizing your expertise in psychopharmacology, clinical research, and behavioral health. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans, provide patient education, and promote mental wellness across outpatient and inpatient settings. Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations, patient history intake, and physiological evaluations to inform diagnosis and treatment strategies.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring safe administration and monitoring for adverse effects.
  • Provide evidence-based psychotherapy interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other modalities tailored to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care plans.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, medication management, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in telehealth services to expand access to mental health care across diverse geographic locations.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and community resources to support ongoing wellness.

Skills

  • Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, or pediatric populations in various settings such as assisted living facilities or hospitals.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles, including medication administration and management of complex cases involving acute pain management or substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient medical documentation and case management.
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, IV infusion, sterile processing techniques, suturing, and spinal taps when necessary.
  • Experience in behavioral health environments including crisis triage, inpatient psychiatric units (Level I/II trauma centers), or emergency rooms with trauma experience.
  • Competence in conducting diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards; knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education on topics like memory care or hospice & palliative medicine; adept at working with children or individuals with disabilities.
