Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to diverse patient populations, including adults, and seniors. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments for patients across various age groups and clinical settings.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities aligned with best practices.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications, including psychotropic drugs, ensuring safe administration and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as primary care providers, social workers, and therapists to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, and wellness strategies.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care standards.

Skills

  • Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication administration protocols.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs assessment in line with psychiatric evaluations.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health treatments including substance use disorders
  • Skilled in crisis intervention techniques such as triage, acute pain management, airway management, and emergency response procedures within hospital or urgent care settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation tools like ICD-10 coding, CPT coding for procedures, and medical documentation standards.
  • Competence in managing telehealth consultations effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Familiarity with specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy or esthetic laser treatments is a plus but not required.
