Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert psychiatric assessments, medication management, and therapeutic interventions to diverse patient populations across outpatient and inpatient settings. Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities aligned with best practices.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including complex regimens involving psychotropics and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Manage urgent psychiatric crises utilizing triage skills and acute care protocols in emergency or inpatient settings.
  • Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication use, lifestyle modifications, and community resources to support recovery.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Demonstrated experience in behavioral health settings, including hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or assisted living facilities.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, including ICD-10 coding for diagnoses and CPT coding for procedures.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
  • Critical care experience or hospital-based acute care background preferred; familiarity with ICU or trauma center environments is a plus.
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills combined with the ability to perform physical examinations and manage complex cases involving pain management or substance use disorders.

Pay: $111,057.16 - $133,746.27 per year
