Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status exams, and physiological evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
- Manage medication administration and monitor patient responses, adjusting treatments as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Provide crisis intervention and acute care management for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies or behavioral health crises.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, discharge planning, and case management for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to extend mental health services remotely, expanding access to care for underserved communities.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid state licensure.
- Proven experience in behavioral health settings, including emergency room experience or working within a Level I Trauma Center preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management strategies.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with expertise in diagnosing mental health disorders using ICD-10 coding standards.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, hospice & palliative care patients, and those with complex medical needs such as dialysis or ventilator-dependent patients.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and procedures like venipuncture, suturing, IV infusion, and sterile processing techniques when necessary.
