Under the Psychiatrist’s leadership, the PMHNP is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations and follow ups to children, adolescents, adults and/or families at B & T HEALTH’s Oak Ridge office location. This contractor/PMHNP is responsible for evaluating an individual to determine if their symptoms meet criteria for an Axis I diagnosis in accordance to the Diagnostic Manual Edition 5 and to determine the need for Medication. The principal functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.
TASKS:
-
Provides a thorough psychiatric evaluation and medication management services of the client’s mental health/substance use condition in order to accurately and appropriately diagnosis an individual.

Provides direct patient care services within the scope of their PMHNP License and assists with the overall medical quality management of the facility.

Writes prescriptions for medications suitable to manage the presenting symptoms.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the Diagnostic Manual Edition 5/ (ICD-10)

Reviews and responds to electronic and hand written mail, phone calls, and other correspondence timely (within 24 hours or next available business day)

Complete required documentation, including progress notes, assessments, orders and prescriptions in a professional and timely manner.

Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing an exacerbation of either psychiatric, substance use and/or medical symptoms.

Abides by all safety/risk, infection control and other guidelines as required within JCAHO standards of practice

Follows Agency’s policies and procedures.

Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
-
Graduated from an accredited PMHNP school recognized by the state of Tennessee and maintains compliance with State of Tennessee issued continuing education requirements.

Licensed to practice as an PMHNP within the state of Tennessee.
-
A minimum of two-year psychiatric experience in hospital based or outpatient medical practice setting.

Has a Supervising Physician assigned to them.
LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Tennessee Driver License.
-
Abuse registry and FDLE clearance.
-
Active professional license to practice in the State of Tennessee.
-
Must maintain a safe driving record with no more than 4 points on the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

Current CPR certification.
