Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and mental health evaluations using advanced clinical techniques and diagnostic tools.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy referrals, and behavioral interventions.
  • Prescribe medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and other psychotropic agents while monitoring patient responses for optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Manage patient caseloads efficiently within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring accurate documentation of medical records and medication administration.
  • Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services across diverse geographic locations.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and crisis intervention strategies.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or equivalent licensure in the relevant state or country.
  • Proven experience working with behavioral health populations across outpatient, inpatient, or emergency settings.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management protocols.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient medical documentation.
  • Experience in conducting clinical research or working within a teaching hospital environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and utilize diagnostic evaluation tools effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams and provide patient-centered care.
