Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist

EPIC Health Partners is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist to support our Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) program. This role provides comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders, including evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management. The provider works as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure effective, person‑centered psychiatric services. This is an ideal opportunity for a licensed and experienced psychiatric prescriber who is passionate about delivering high‑quality, care within a collaborative, community‑based setting.


Essential Duties & Responsibilites

  • Prescribe, direct, and manage psychotherapeutic treatments and medications to treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations by analyzing and interpreting patient data, clinical assessments, and diagnostic findings to determine diagnoses and treatment needs
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans using a variety of therapeutic approaches
  • Provide Evaluation and Management (E/M) services and psychotherapy as clinically indicated
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess clients’ clinical conditions and healthcare needs
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including social and medical histories obtained from patients, families, and other professionals
  • Collaborate, communicate, and consult with interdisciplinary team members (including physicians, psychologists, therapists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals) regarding treatment planning and client progress
  • Educate and inform clients and, when appropriate, guardians, family members, or significant others about diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications
  • Refer clients to specialized health or community resources as clinically appropriate
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment services as needed
  • Participate in peer reviews by evaluating treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatric or medical professionals
  • Prepare and submit required case reports, documentation, and summaries to government or mental health agencies
  • Work closely with the Chief Clinical Officer to ensure appropriate workflows and adherence to psychiatric policies
  • Attend treatment team meetings as required or appropriate, with advance notice

Qualifications

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist authorized to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
    Authorization to prescribe psychiatric medications, including controlled substances, as applicable
  • Active, unrestricted Virginia license in good standing
  • Unencumbered DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience providing psychiatric care to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred
  • Ability to complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with VADBHDS and DMAS regulatory requirements
